Personal training for nurses and shift workers in Cork

A fixed Tuesday 7pm class is useless when the roster changes every fortnight. Our personal trainers run 30-minute sessions from early morning to evening, six days a week, at our Ballincollig gym near CUH and at Douglas, and you book whatever slot this week's shifts allow.

Shift workers

Training that bends around the roster

Nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, gardaí, retail, hospitality and factory shifts. If your week never looks the same twice, the gym has to be built for that.

Book by the week

No fixed slot. When the roster lands, you book the sessions that fit it through the app, and change them if the roster does.

Early and late

Sessions from early morning through to the evening, six days a week. Post-night-shift mornings and pre-late-shift lunchtimes both work.

30 minutes

Enough to get strong, short enough to fit before or after a twelve-hour shift without eating the whole day off.

Packs that never expire

A run of nights, a heavy fortnight, a holiday. Nothing lapses and nothing renews without you.

Near CUH and the city

Ballincollig is a few minutes from CUH and the Wilton side of the city. Douglas covers the south side. One membership, both gyms.

Strength for the job

Twelve hours on your feet, lifting patients, stock or gear. Strength training is what protects backs and shoulders through a long career.

"I really like that you can just purchase credits and use them whenever with no fear if them expiring. I've been a member of other gyms where it was a subscription model, 12 classes a month and you either used them or lost them at the end of the month with no wiggle room. People have lives, get injured etc. As a person sho sometimes must travel with work, I really appreciate this type of membership."

How it works

Training around shift work at ATP

Shift work breaks most fitness plans. Classes are at fixed times, running clubs meet on set evenings, and a gym membership that assumes a nine to five is a monthly donation by the third week of nights. What actually works is a session short enough to fit around a long shift, bookable by the week rather than the term, and coached so that a tired brain does not have to plan anything.

What a session looks like

You train 1:2, one coach and two clients, each on your own programme, for 30 minutes. Your coach has the plan and adjusts it to how you are: the session after a run of nights is lighter than the one on a day off. Squats, hinges, presses, pulls and carries, loads that climb over the weeks, and a bit of steady cardio if you want it. Two sessions a week is the sweet spot, whenever in the week they land.

Fitting it around the roster

Sessions run from early morning to the evening, six days a week, at both gyms. When the roster comes out you book what fits through the app, and you can move sessions if it changes. Nurses and CUH staff tend to use Ballincollig; south-side and city people use Douglas; plenty of people use both. Our no-expiry packs mean a heavy fortnight or a holiday costs nothing.

FAQ

Shift worker questions

If yours is not here, give us a ring. We would rather talk it through.

Can I train at different times each week?

Yes. That is the point. You book whatever sessions suit that week's roster through the app, and move them if the roster changes.

How early and how late do you run?

Sessions run from early morning through to the evening, six days a week, at both gyms. Check the app for exact slots on a given day.

Should I train after a night shift?

Some people love it, some sleep first. Tell your coach where you are in the run of shifts and the session is adjusted. A lighter session beats no session.

Which gym is nearest CUH?

Ballincollig, a few minutes from CUH and the Wilton side of the city. Any membership works at both gyms.

What if I go a fortnight without training?

Nothing lapses. Our no-expiry packs sit there until you are back, and you pick up where you left off.

Is it a class or personal training?

Personal training, 1:2. One coach with two clients, each on their own programme, so the session is built around you and the week you have had.

How much does it cost?

Rolling memberships start at €179 every 4 weeks for two sessions a week, and our no-expiry packs never lapse. Your first session is free, no card and no commitment.
