The People's Gym · Cork
Wedding fitness in Cork.
You want to feel strong, look well and not be counting almonds for six months. The wedding is the deadline; the goal is a body you keep afterwards. Our personal trainers build 30-minute sessions and sensible food habits around the date at our Douglas and Ballincollig gyms.
Wedding fitness
Strong for the day, kept for the marriage
The crash diet gets you to the day exhausted and straight back to where you started. Strength training plus habits gets you there feeling great and stays.
A plan with a date on it
Twelve weeks, six months, a year. Tell us the date and we work back from it, with the last fortnight kept calm.
Strength, not starvation
Lifting is what changes shape: shoulders, arms, posture, the way a dress or a suit sits. It also means you eat properly instead of living on fumes.
Habit-based food
No plan you cannot follow through a hen, a stag and three tasting menus. A few habits that hold, coached alongside the training.
Together or separately
Couples often train together and it is a lovely way to get an hour a week that is not about seating plans. Or come on your own. Both work.
Confidence
Most people tell us the biggest change was not the photos, it was walking into the room feeling strong.
Kept afterwards
Plenty of our wedding clients are still with us years later. The habits were built to last, not to peak on a Saturday.
Real Google reviews
From members who started where you are
In their own words, straight from Google.
"I started training in advance of my wedding over a year and a half ago. The plan was to get in shape and look great on my wedding day, but I continued coming back to ATP long after the wedding as I became hooked on feeling strong and energised! The half hour slot is so easy to slot in to a busy lifestyle and the lads create such a fun vibe. …"
"I joined and did personal training before my wedding and managed to tone up and lose 3 kgs. The staff are both friendly and knowledgeable so much so that I continue to go on a regular basis. Whether it be for personal training or classes I would highly recommend to anyone."
"I recently joined ATP Fitness, Ballincollig and I'm so glad I did. There's a really positive, friendly, professional atmosphere amongst the staff. … The sessions are varied each week and always tailored to my needs. The lads always encourage, motivate and push me to excel each week."
"Been training with ATP on and off for 5 years now, from pre wedding to post natal, they have been great at tailoring to changing needs and priorities. The trainers are all very nice and there's a great vibe in the gym."
How it works
Training for a wedding at ATP
A wedding is the best deadline most people ever get, and the worst thing you can do with it is a crash diet and an hour of cardio a day. You arrive at the church tired, hungry and flatter than you started, and by the honeymoon it is all back. The people who look and feel best on the day did something simpler: two coached strength sessions a week for a few months and a handful of food habits they could keep through the whole run-up.
What a session looks like
You train 1:2, one coach and two clients, each on your own programme, for 30 minutes. Squats, hinges, presses, pulls and carries at loads that climb week by week, because progressive strength work is what changes shape and posture. If you are a couple training together, you each have your own programme and your coach runs both. Two sessions a week is the sweet spot, three if the date is close and you have the time.
Food and the last fortnight
Our habit-based nutrition coaching runs alongside if you want it: protein, a few structural changes, and no plan that falls apart at the first tasting menu. The last two weeks are kept calm on purpose. No new lifts, no drastic cuts, so you arrive rested rather than depleted.

FAQ
Wedding fitness questions
If yours is not here, give us a ring. We would rather talk it through.
How long before the wedding should I start?
Six months is ideal, three months makes a real difference, and twelve weeks of coached strength work is enough to change how you look and feel. Less than that, come anyway and we make the most of it.
Will I have to go on a strict diet?
No. Strict diets are why people arrive at weddings exhausted. We coach a few food habits that hold through hens, stags and tastings, and the strength training does the rest.
Can my partner and I train together?
Yes. You book the same session, each on your own programme, with a coach running both. A lot of couples find it is the nicest hour of the week.
Will lifting make me bulky before the dress?
No. Strength training makes women firmer and leaner, not bigger. Shoulders, arms and posture are what people notice in the photos, and lifting is what changes them.
What about the last two weeks?
We keep them calm. No new exercises, no drastic changes, sensible food and sleep, so you arrive rested and feeling strong rather than depleted.
What happens after the wedding?
Whatever you want. Our packs never expire, so the honeymoon costs nothing, and most people come back because they liked feeling strong.
How much does it cost?
Rolling memberships start at €179 every 4 weeks for two sessions a week, and our no-expiry packs never lapse. Your first session is free, no card and no commitment.
