Coached strength training for women at our Douglas and Ballincollig gyms, with female coaches available at both. Whether you have never lifted a weight or you are coming back after a baby, your first session is free.
Women's training
Training that fits your life, not the other way round
Most of the women who train with us did not think of themselves as gym people. They do now.
Female coaches at both gyms
Rebecca, Katie, Eve and Aishling in Douglas, Aoife and Grace in Ballincollig. Ask for a female coach when you book and we will sort it.
Strength, not just cardio
Lifting is the fastest route to feeling firmer, stronger and more confident. We coach it properly from day one.
Pre and post natal
Rebecca, Aishling, Katie and Aoife are pre and post natal specialists, so you can keep training safely through pregnancy and ease back afterwards.
Weight loss done kindly
No crash diets, no punishment. Training plus habit-based nutrition coaching that fits around a real week.
1:2, never a crowd
One coach, two clients. Your own programme, your coach's attention, and no one looking at anyone.
Every stage of life
From your 20s to your 60s and beyond, including perimenopause and menopause, where strength training makes a real difference.
What to expect
A gym where women feel at home
If you have ever walked into a big commercial gym, looked at the weights area and walked straight back out, you are not alone. It is the single most common story we hear from women on their first visit to ATP. Our gyms are small, semi-private and coached, which means there is always someone beside you who knows exactly what you are doing and why.
Around half of our coaching team are women, and a lot of them came to fitness through their own journey rather than a lifetime of sport. Aoife is a qualified nurse who started with her own weight loss. Rebecca coaches and referees hockey. She, Aishling, Katie and Aoife are all pre and post natal specialists. Katie works as an occupational therapist alongside coaching. They get it, because they have been there.
Why we push strength for women
For years women were told to stick to the treadmill and the small dumbbells. It never worked. Lifting weights properly is what changes how you look, how you feel and how you carry yourself, and it does not make you bulky. It protects your bones, helps with sleep and mood, and becomes especially important through perimenopause and menopause, when muscle and bone density can drop quickly without it.
You will learn to squat, hinge, press and pull with good technique, starting light and building steadily. Most women are surprised how quickly they progress once someone shows them properly.
Pregnancy, new mums and getting back
Rebecca, Aishling and Katie in Douglas and Aoife in Ballincollig are pre and post natal specialists, so there is one at both gyms. If you are pregnant we adapt your training as you go. If you have recently had a baby we start gently, with the pelvic floor and core in mind, and build from there at your pace. Just tell us where you are at. Our pre and post natal training page has the full detail.

FAQ
Women's training questions
If yours is not here, give us a ring. We would rather talk it through.
Can I request a female personal trainer?
Yes. Just say so when you claim your free session and we will pair you with one of our female coaches at Douglas or Ballincollig.
I have never lifted weights. Is that OK?
It is the norm here. Your coach starts you light, teaches the movements properly and builds from there. Nobody expects you to know anything on day one.
Will weights make me bulky?
No. Women do not have the hormones to bulk up by accident. Lifting makes you leaner, firmer and stronger.
Can I train while pregnant?
In most cases yes, with your doctor's OK. We have pre and post natal qualified coaches who adapt your sessions as your pregnancy progresses.
How soon after having a baby can I come back?
Once you have been cleared by your GP or physio, usually after the six week check. We start gently and build at your pace.
Is it women only?
No, our gyms are mixed, but they are small, coached and friendly, and a large share of our members are women. Most people say it feels nothing like a big commercial gym.
What does it cost?
From €179 every 4 weeks for two sessions a week, or no-expiry packs that never lapse. Your first session is free and there is no contract.
